Meet Owen Meyer Forbes, DDS

Dr. Owen M. Forbes is originally from Molokai, Hawaii. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1990. Upon graduation, he completed a four year Post Doctoral Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following a residency in 1994, Dr. Forbes joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Constellation (CV-64). He also served as a Staff Oral Surgeon at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and was stationed with the U.S. Marines at Camp Pendleton, California. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander before leaving in 1997 to return to Indiana. He practiced in Vincennes, Indiana from 1997-2001. In 2001, Dr. Forbes joined Columbus Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Columbus, Indiana.
Dr. Forbes was certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1999 and re-certified in 2007. He served on the board of the Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and was acting President in 2009. Dr. Forbes has been serving as a volunteer oral surgeon for Volunteers in Medicine, a local health clinic providing care for low income, uninsured patients, since his arrival in 2001. He is currently on staff at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Dr. Forbes is involved in the Columbus Regional Dental Society and International Team for Implantology (ITI). He resides in Columbus, Indiana with his wife and three children.
